Flight and Invisibility

News article talks of the scientific discovery of a lens to reverse Casmir effect causing levitation and also how manipulation of the local field could allow for light to flow around an object (drone).

LEVIATHAN posted on their site the following link to an article on the proof of concept for "invisibility":

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7553061.stm

It looks like the materials question might become hot. For CGI?, isn't it amazing how it happens just as invisibility moves from Science Fiction to FACT!

Note: University California Berkeley, just miles from the Drone Sightings of 2007!

Invisibility might be in use already. Only, if carried out successfully we are not able to see it.  ;)

Theoretical Blueprint for Invisibility Cloak Reported

Durham, N.C. -- Using a new design theory, researchers at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering and Imperial College London have developed the blueprint for an invisibility cloak. Once devised, the cloak could have numerous uses, from defense applications to wireless communications, the researchers said.
Such a cloak could hide any object so well that observers would be totally unaware of its presence, according to the researchers. In principle, their invisibility cloak could be realized with exotic artificial composite materials called "metamaterials," they said.

"The cloak would act like you've opened up a hole in space," said David R. Smith, Augustine Scholar and professor of electrical and computer engineering at Duke's Pratt School. "All light or other electromagnetic waves are swept around the area, guided by the metamaterial to emerge on the other side as if they had passed through an empty volume of space."

Electromagnetic waves would flow around an object hidden inside the metamaterial cloak just as water in a river flows virtually undisturbed around a smooth rock, Smith said.

First Demonstration of a Working Invisibility Cloak

Durham, NC -- A team led by scientists at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering has demonstrated the first working "invisibility cloak." The cloak deflects microwave beams so they flow around a "hidden" object inside with little distortion, making it appear almost as if nothing were there at all.

Cloaks that render objects essentially invisible to microwaves could have a variety of wireless communications or radar applications, according to the researchers.

The team reported its findings on Thursday, Oct. 19, in Science Express, the advance online publication of the journal Science. The research was funded by the Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.

Continuing indications of interest in invisibility published in mainstream media. Will this be an avenue to disclosure?

Here's another possible drone technology being discussed.  It's called a Space-Time cloak.

Thanks for that link. The idea of using something to slow down light seems quite novel. I think that  applications in communications might also be very useful.

There seems to be a large push to attain invisibility. It makes me wonder what the reasons are. Reading between the lines of these press releases, the only thing I can see is so that you can kill someone without them seeing you, therefore the news items are just advertising for military funding. Is there really any other practical reason?

In the case of UFOs using invisibility, is it reasonable that aliens would go to such lengths just so that a few humans did not see them taking readings on the Earth. I mean that our own astronauts made no effort to hide from Moon creatures when they visited there.

If cloaking does exists in UFOs, I think it is likely a side effect of how they normally operate; i.e. going into another dimension, etc.

By the way, there is recent discussion about other dimensions being researched:

Wow.  That would be a seriously amazing discovery even bigger than the revelation that Earth like planets exist.

Given the shadow of the curb the levitation photo was taken later than or earlier than the photo of the device in the grounded state. Given the shadows, the device in levitation is less than twice the height of the curb, but then again any levitation is spectacular: how interesting.
