Lake Tahoe sighting
MUFON submitter 1073 and Ufocasebook May 12th
Lake Tahoe-05-05-07

My husband and I were in Lake Tahoe over the weekend. We left on Friday afternoon and came back Monday morning. On Saturday at about 7 PM, I was walking out to my car to get a sweater when I saw this thing in the sky. It was pretty close I think, but still above the trees. It was moving and spinning slowly, heading towards my right.

I was startled and confused at first and wanted to take a picture, but our camera was still inside so I took two pictures with my camera phone before it passed behind the roof of the house. I ran around to the other side and was yelling to my husband to come out. We came around the other side and saw it just as it was going down behind some trees. He didn't get a good look at it, but he saw enough to convince him that it was something really strange.

We decided to take a drive around the area to see if we could see it again, but we never did. We didn't see it the next day either. Since we were renting the cabin for the weekend we didn't know any nearby residents but I would bet at least a few other people saw it. It was very visible and very strange looking. I was definitely a little freaked out but my husband didn't seem very bothered by it. He was more interested in it than scared.

He wanted to drive around a lot longer trying to find it than I did! It didn't make any noise except for a very, very faint sound that is hard to describe but sounded like something vibrating. We both heard the sound although just barely. It moved in a very straight line when it went over the house but when we saw it on the other side of the house, when it was going down behind the trees, it made a very sharp turn. It didn't move like a helicopter or airplane, it was very "exact".

We did see one person on our drive who was a few blocks away taking a walk and asked him if he saw it, and he said no. Then we asked him if he heard any weird noise and tried to describe it as best we could, and he said he might have but he wasn't sure. By this time it was at least 20 minutes since we first saw the thing so who knows.

I have found a software call "GREYCstoration" created and develloped by a French Programmer.  ;D
This soft is free and can be use on LINUX and Windows platform and gives some interesting results on any photographs; in fact,
it's able to "denoising and interpolate" any image.
http://cimg.sourceforge.net/greycstoration/guide.shtml

Here are the two Tahoe pics, modified this way:

We can then clearly see the TWO ELECTRICAL WIRES passing transversely to both pics.

I'll let all the other researchers trying it by themselves and post their results here.
If you have any problem to install or/and use it, let me know by PM and I'll do my best to help you.

I think with this soft, we could maybe see some others details never seen before.

I don't care what anyone thinks, I believe that the Tahoe pictures are the best shots of all drones.  There's a lot to be said for those two pictures, especially the one where the drone is behind the dish and the fact they're from a camera phone (by all appearances).  It looks 100% unplanned and very natural.

Well darn it, timing is everything.  That's exactly where I lived before I moved to Texas  waa, waa, waa - El Dorado County.   Oh well, meant to be I guess.   I'm so bummed.

Here's a little map for everyone and if you squint you can see longitudes and latitudes.

Eldorado is not correct.  It's actually in Placer county.  I knew there were only two California counties which border Lake Tahoe.  I searched by each county and the date and it came up as Placer.  I have done the same with other Mufon reports to determine which county.

Could it be that the Tahoe picture is another picture taken from within the avalon apartments? Those little dishes are everywhere here.

The pondersoa pines and the powerlines I think exclude the Avalon complex.

This is in the witnesses not yet identified section, but according to Mufon this witness was identified as Deborah McKinley of San Jose. I'm curious about the investigation into this woman as there is a woman by that name not far from where I live and I live on the border of San Jose and Campbell. I'm also curious if this is the person whom the front page connotes "we are currently investigating someone that is refusing to speak with us?"

Who knows if these photos are actually in the Lake Tahoe area? But it sure looks a lot like the scenes you see cruising around the streets in Google.

There are plenty of cabins in the small communities around the lake. Lots of them are rental property. A number of the roads have names that end in drive, ie; "Big Pine Drive" etc. The construction of the roofs are consistent with what's seen in the photos. And the views around these streets are incredibly similar to what you would expect from the actual location of the photos. Looking upward, the area is dominated with tall pines. The power lines are in the same position relative to the trees as the photos.

Just take a look around this area in Street View. (Notice all the roads named "something Drive")

I've browsed some areas briefly but haven't seen a dish antenna yet. Who knows, it could be spottable from "Google Street View"?

I've made a composite of the two photos by aligning the tree top that is visible in both. I think it gives a little clearer idea of the roof details.

Also, what's the news on this witness? Has anyone tried to contact her? I guess her identity is no longer anonymous, but this is the only mention I've ever heard of it. If she is a real lead, perhaps an admin should edit this post to better protect her identity.

A dish antenna. Obviously not the right one, but it appears to be pointing to the south east. as I assume all dish antenna in the area would be. Which means the Tahoe photos would be looking north.

Yep.  That's the direction they point around these parts.  South by south-east to be more precise.  While looking at the two cell phone pics I can imagine something like this:

But that does not really fit with the description.  But who knows?  Descriptions have turned up bad before.

At first look at the pics I thought the wife would be looking to the backyard.  But the utility lines makes me think she's looking to the front because up there the wires are out on the street.

From what I am seeing, assuming that the antenna is pointing to the South-East, I think the picture direction is more to the North-West. The dish alignment seems to be the same direction as the roofline. If the roofline is perpendicular to the street, the street then must run South-West to North-East. Unless the cabin is near the cove on the South-West side of the lake, this would seem to put the location on the North-West side of Lake Tahoe.
