Nice details! Thanks both Nekitamo and spf33!

Do you mean 10'4" diameter of the center ring, or 10'4" diameter of the outer dimension of the object?

the outer ring, #16 on isaac's inventory review.

Great images, guys! Keep 'em coming :)

Here's what I have so far: not exactly the same time of day, but it seems like shadow #1 was false alarm. It is slightly different, but seems to be present in both Stephen's and one of elevenaugust's images (IMG_0840):

However, there's #2 not much further away - could that be it? I'll try to compare more images, perhaps there is a better match in sun angle.

My analysis shows the same result, false alarm.  I was thinking the drone would be much further back, possibly beyond the top tree line.  Am I incorrect in that estimation?

So much great work!

spf33 & nekitamo, do you think that the Ty object and the Stephen object can conclusively be determined to be the same object at the same time of day based on any shadows shown in each photo?

If the time is significantly different, then the locations may also be separated, otherwise if the time is the same then it might make sense to invest more time into searching in the Stephen area for the Ty sighting / trails.

To echo what otf says,  excellent work to both spf and Nekitamo!  You guys are an important part of drt, I wanted you to know.  Thanks.

nice job on the shadow comparisons, guys.

is difficult to tell where the drone is in space, obviously.

and it's hard for me to believe that it is only 700-800' from the camera just based viewing the photo.

but as i've shown, if we are looking at the isaac's inventory review objects in steven's photos then the math pretty much dictates the drone has to be about 750-800' from the camera to be at the scale seen in the photo.

unless it can be determined that 11a's scale estimate is about double, this would move the drone about double the distance from the camera.

also, the tilt on the drone that is unnecessary necessary to match the 3d to the photo is really bothering me.  i'll try to get some illustrations posted.

as far as me linking ty to steven based on shadow and highlight, i would need a much more detailed model of the drone.  and with as much as i'm doing and have done, the patience needed to model the bb drone is beyond me currently.

maybe someone from the drt can approach kris and ask him if he would allow us to use it for study.  i asked him last year and while he wasn't completely against the idea he wasn't ready to release it at the time.

*fixed kind of an important typo

ok, i think this is self explanatory.

the whole 3d drone seems to need to be tilted about 5-7 degrees to match the photo.
but it also needs to be tilted exactly perpendicular to the camera plane because the long central shaft i is perfectly straight in the photo.
