was on digg today when i clicked on this link - http://digg.com/design/Showcase_Of_Web_Design_In_Lithuania_Smashing_Magazine

of all the dozens sites listed i clicked on only one - http://www.trakaimuziejus.lt.  and for no particular reason other than i liked the thumbnail image.

what did i find at the Trakai History Museum website?  this image:

haven't decompiled the swf's to look for anything else and don't think this predates any of the original drone stuff.  i was just amused and caught off-guard to see this so i thought i'd post it.

Nice find - I believe I kind of understand why the author(s) of this webpage, as well as those in other examples of drone-design "recycling", couldn't resist to use it. And why not - it's not copyrighted...

But, unlike other examples, it also looks like they recycled (and mutilated) someone's very detailed 3D model of Raj's drone (hpo's?), which is not very commendable as they obviously made money with it. Here's a link to the designers website http://www.multimediamark.lt/index.php?lang=2.

Hmm, it certainly looks like my 3D model which they have used, but I don't know how they could have gotten hold of it, I only released a usable model to a few members of the DRT and to Chris.
I don't remember taking these screen-shots myself, although the bigger one is mirrored but still.
A screen-shot from an Edrawing file would not have given this result.

It appears to be a direct capture from this page of yours HPO:

Your image was mirrored (left-right).
Here is a difference image:

Yes, that's it... you have a sharp eye indeed, otf! :)

So it's photoshopped from a freely available image... still not fair, but hardly surprising - I mean, if I'm still intrigued with that thing even after three years of looking at it, no wonder someone found it useful to "spice" up his work in this age of "recycled" and "compiled" designs...

Nice, the Birmingham drone!
That glow in the center explains the color difference between the background sky and the sky seen through the ring in the original photo.
